You might have noticed a few changes to the puppies' living quarters today. The rear wall has been moved a little further out to provide some more space and the whelping bars:
have now been removed. The purpose of these bars was to provide a safe sanctuary for the puppies from being squashed against the walls by Mum while they were small. The bars provided a gap beneath them that the puppies could fit into but Mum could not.
Now that the puppies are large enough for Mum to always notice them, and strong enough to wriggle free, the bars are no longer needed. In any case, the puppies are almost too big to fit into the gap now.
